The International Harbour Masters’ Association (IHMA) is on a mission to ensure that wherever seafarer’s go, they see how much the world appreciates the work they do.
This past year where seafarers and their loved ones have had to endure being separated for prolonged periods of time due to global challenges with crew changes and shore leave, seafarers delivered and ensured that international trade continued to support the world economy.
IHMA’s Day of the Seafarer campaign for 2021 calls on families of the wider maritime community to help show their support by having the young people in their lives draw a picture for a seafarer.
Inspired by IMO’s themes for World Maritime Day and Day of the Seafarer 2021, the idea is to keep seafarers smiling and in touch while educating the younger generation about the life of the modern-day seafarer. Whether they’ve lovingly designed their own, or proudly printed and coloured a picture, send their drawings to: secretary.ihma@harbourmaster.org and they will be posted on the IHMA website and on their social media platforms for the world’s seafarers to see.
