The 2018 Peak Challenge in celebration of Day of the Seafarer on june 25th was another success with 50 participants making their way to the top of Grouse Mountain. This year’s fastest individual with a time of 37 minutes was Drew Hemmingson of the Tymac Titans. The fastest team went to Easier Said than Run from Teekay Shipping with an amazing combined time of 2 hours and 14 minutes. The Teekay team was comprised of Chris Cooper (43 mins), Jennifer Kerr (51 min) and Sean Hennessey (40 mins). Great to see some new teams out this year and those that came back, who say better finishing times than the previous year. Congratulations to all of our participants for taking on the challenge!
Also celebrating Day of the Seafarer was the Prince Rupert Port Authority that held a similar hike in Prince Rupert starting at Atlin Terminal followed by a barbecque at the local seafarer’s centre. Over 40 employees, volunteers and seafarers participated in the Day of the Seafarer event organized by the port authority. What a great way to bring awareness to shipping and the seafarers that make it all possible.
